Yamaha apre il suo primo Red Point Café, un invito ad immergersi nel suo universo, realtà nella quale non solo si gareggia con successo sui circuiti e sulle strade di tutto il mondo, ma anche si suona nei più prestigiosi teatri e stadi, si sfreccia sulla neve e si solcano i mari senza che mai si esaurisca la passione che da sempre anima il suo pensiero.
Il Red Point Café Milano è un luogo aperto a tutti, a tutte le passioni ed a tutti gli argomenti. Tutti saranno i benvenuti nella location ideata esclusivamente per la gente, dove il marchio non è una fede ma una presenza, protagonista ma al tempo stesso spettatore che ascolta e che apprende.
Il progetto è l’elaborazione concreta del significato di “punto d’incontro”, concetto-baricentrico del Red Point Café Milano, reso concreto dall’introduzione di un cilindro virtuale che colora di rosso tutto ciò che incontra nel suo svilupparsi: il pavimento, l’arredo e il soffitto. La posizione centrale di questo elemento segna idealmente il cuore del locale, il punto su cui le opinioni si incontrano.
L’immagine del marchio resta “sospesa” ma i dischi disegnati a terra e in alto ne rappresentano l’estrema sintesi, con il richiamo al tondo rosso in cui, storicamente, i tre diapason sono inscritti.
La cornice è un ambiente che riprende l’immagine delle concessionarie ufficiali Yamaha con un mix orientato alla creazione di uno stile raffinato ed elegante ma al tempo stesso tecnico ed equilibrato. Solo pochi e misurati accenni firmano il locale mentre i valori che da sempre guidano Yamaha sono espressi attraverso un esercizio di wording su pannelli alle pareti, ed alla presenza discreta di alcuni prodotti dell’anima musicale di Yamaha.
Questo mondo, che è un laboratorio di esperienze, proprio grazie al suo carattere istintivo di spazio neutrale offre le opportunità di espressione più svariate: dalla location per eventi all’esposizione, dal concerto al cocktail.
Proprio in tema di musica sarà possibile ascoltare brani di sottofondo, programmare un’apertura disco-bar e, perché no, organizzare una serata concerto grazie all’eccezionale impianto audio tutto firmato Yamaha Music.
Audioprogetti è stata chiamata a progettare ed installare questo sistema di amplificazione e di diffusione audio, e si è avvalsa delle migliori tecnologie realizzate da Yamaha Pro Audio.
Per la diffusione sono state installate 6 casse IF2108 della serie Installation di Yamaha montate sui nuovi bracket WM2X08, ed accoppiate a due sub IS1112 tutto rigorosamente in una particolare colorazione bianca che le rendono esteticamente più "eleganti" pur conservando le specifiche tecniche chiave di questi diffusori.
Per la diffusione all'esterno del locale sono state scelte 2 casse S55, piccole ma straordinariamente potenti e precise.
L'amplificazione è affidata a 4 finalidi potenza Xp5000 per i medio\alti delle 2108 e delle S55, mentre per i sub è stato scelto un finale Xp7000 che garantirà la giusta pressione sulle basse frequenze.
Per la miscelazione dei segnali audio è stato scelto lo straordinario mixer Yamaha IMX644, semplice all'uso ma totalmente customizzabile; in aggiunta sono stati installati anche 1 sintonizzatore Am\Fm Yamaha TX-496 e un lettore CD multi-disc Yamaha CDC-697.
La diffusione nel locale risulta chiara, omogenea e piacevole anche a locale pieno, permettendo sia la diffusione di musica d'ambiente nelle ore diurne, sia l'esibizione di gruppi musicali live o D.J. in quelle serali.
Il Redpoint Cafè Milano sarà aperto dalle 7.30 alle 20.30 da martedì alla domenica e fornirà servizio di colazioni, tavola fredda a pranzo e happy hour dalle 18.30 alle 20.30 tutte le sere della settimana.

Caparezza nella rete audio Yamaha |

L’esibizione del rapper pugliese all’Alcatraz di Milano lo scorso 7 marzo, è stata supportata, per quanto riguarda l’audio, da un sistema Yamaha, con trasporto di segnale effettuato tramite rete Ethersound.
L’utilizzo di una rete con standard Ethersound comporta degli importanti vantaggi, sia in termini di qualità del segnale e relativa immunità ai disturbi, sia dal punto di vista della semplificazione del cablaggio e risparmio di tempo all’atto dell’installazione. Da quest’ultimo punto di vista citiamo un dato significativo fornito dal service e dal rivenditore Yamaha che hanno installato l’impianto audio all’Alcatraz: tra il momento in cui si è finito di scaricare tutto il materiale e le apparecchiature, ed il momento il cui il sistema ha iniziato a funzionare, sono passate meno di tre ore.
La rete EtherSound è caratterizzata da una struttura ad anello, nella quale i segnali si muovono in senso orario e antiorario, il guasto di una delle apparecchiature che costituiscono l’anello, non altera il funzionamento dell’intera rete. Lo svantaggio di questa struttura è che l’aggiunta o la rimozione di uno dei dispositivi costituenti l’anello, può essere difficile e costringe a modificare il cablaggio. I segnali sono codificati con una quantizzazione di 24 bit e campionati con frequenza di 48kHz oppure 96 kHz. Operando alla frequenza di 48 kHz il tempo di latenza è pari a cinque campioni, vale a dire 104 microsecondi, il che significa che EtherSound è la soluzione ottimale per minimizzare il ritardo dei segnali.
Il setup del sistema Yamaha ha la struttura illustrata nella figura 1, si noti l’estrema semplicità funzionale del sistema.

Yamaha Installation Series – eclectic speaker systems at Spazio Aurora (Rozzano - MI)
In Rozzano – a town in the Milan hinterland, the town council’s department for juvenile policies has entrusted Sunrise Cooperative with the management of Spazio Aurora, a multi-function venue offering local youngsters a meeting place for expanding their social and cultural life, by means of courses, social projects and other events, such as shows, dance nights and quality concerts at very reasonable prices.
As well as a school of music with a wide variety of lessons, there are also three rehearsal rooms with professional instruments and an audio recording studio, complete with control room.
The main room has a 32x16 ft. stage that hosts concerts and performances of all kinds, with groups (cover pop bands, punk and hard rock line-ups) swing bands and DJ-sets, but also weekly shows with comedians, cabaret artists and entertainment for kids of all ages, with puppet shows, games and clowns.
The sound reinforcement system chosen to meet the needs of such a widely varied calendar consists in Yamaha Installation Series loudspeakers, with relative power amplifiers and audio processor, all installed by Audio Progetti Srl.
Founded recently by a group of professionals with years of experience in various sectors of the pro audio world, Audio Progetti is based in Cavenago Brianza (near Milan) and specialized in system design, sale and installation. Stefano Papetti, the firm’s technical sales manager and managing director, explained, “As a company, we are firm believers in product demos as the most effective sales tool, and the system installed at Spazio Aurora was chosen following a demo we staged there with loudspeaker enclosures from Yamaha’s Installation series, during which the venue’s technicians were extremely favourably impressed by the rig’s sound pressure and reproduction quality, even if we only used a limited number of power amplifiers.”
Papetti, who has considerable experience in designing systems for recording studios, theatres and various other types of installations, continued, “The very first time I heard the Installation Series enclosures, I was also extremely favourably impressed - mainly for their sound pressure, but also for the acoustic quality they’re able ensure at all volumes.”
The two Installation Series IF2115/64 full-range enclosures used in "Biamp + Sub" mode as the main system at Spazio Aurora are multi-function high-powered systems fitted with 15” woofers. Dispersion can be controlled thanks to the systems’ rotatable horn, which enables them to be easily installed horizontally or vertically, ensuring utmost adaptability when space considerations dictate speaker orientation.
The IF2115 units are used along with a pair of Installation Series IS1215 subwoofers, which have twin 15” speakers, the ideal combination for the full-range systems, to obtain the maximum power and best reproduction over the entire audio spectrum covered. On the opposite side of the room, two Installation Series IF2208 are installed, compact two-way systems with twin 8” woofers. Here too, the fact that the horn was rotatable enabled the enclosures to be positioned exactly as required. The numerous groups and other acts alternating on stage also have four Club Series CM12V monitors at their disposal.
Under the stage, the rack of units powering and controlling the system included three different models from Yamaha’s XP series of power amplifiers: an XP3500 for the horns of the IF2115/64 enclosures and an XP7000 for their woofers, an XP5000 for the subwoofers, an XP3500 for the systems mounted opposite the stage and another two of the same model, powering the stage monitors. The system’s signal processing and distribution is handled by a Yamaha SP2060 Speaker Processor, optimized for precise control of the Installation Series of loudspeakers used in the venue. The loudspeakers’ data are preset in the SP2060, enabling the necessary settings to be carried out in a few simple steps, ensuring extremely user-friendly system management and control.
The processor’s exclusive LSI technology guarantees exceptional sound quality, as well as a phenomenal dynamic range and a signal/noise ratio of over 110 dB. Among its numerous built-in functions, gain, delay, parametric equalization, compression, crossover and limiter all play essential roles in the set-up’s loudspeaker management. The extremely precise “all-pass” filter also allows very precise control of just the phase, without changing the gain.
Papetti continued, “The system was set for three-way use, and the processor is used as a crossover, limiter and compressor for the full-range enclosures – with this technique, the set-up is extremely flexible. For the power amplifiers, we opted for the XP series, which are excellent units that run very quietly, and the system was designed using Yamaha’s Y-S3 Sound System Simulator software to study the sound and configure the appropriate presets.”
As well as running his recording studio, located on the first floor at Spazio Aurora, Lorenzo Catinella is also in charge of the audio set-up in the room with the Yamaha PA, and confirmed, “For the various outputs, I created and stored a series of presets – we’ve got a preset for DJ sets, a “Live” preset, with more punch on the bottom end, another that has a bit more compression, and one with a compression threshold that reacts to low input signals, but ensures we have precise powerful sound even on nights when we don’t have a large crowd in the room, but nevertheless need a good compromise between the mixer’s output and the processor’s capacity to exploit the system’s horns and woofers.“
Catinella confirmed that the system was definitely up to the task of handling the numerous different events staged in the venue, “The amps are excellent, with good balance, and the range is smooth in the mid/high and high frequencies - which gives a nice warmer sound. The loudspeakers have a three-way crossover set-up – with amps dedicated to each section and, in fact, the full-range enclosures perform so well I had to gradually reduce their power to obtain a more balanced overall sound – something that doesn’t happen every day with other brands on the market. We chose a rather unusual layout for the installation, with the two IF2208 mounted opposite the front-of-house loudspeakers, to enable us to have more volume on the microphones, as the problem of getting the vocals heard well over the instruments - without running any risks of feedback - is always an absolute priority in all types of live music situations.”
Bands performing at the venue have also been enthusiastic about the results achieved, as Catinella explained: “We’ve had some nights with seven groups performing in four hours – each playing a different genre – and at the end they congratulated us and thanked us for the great sound n the room – the ideal combination of precision, power and response.”
Papetti concluded, “After this installation, Spazio Aurora asked us to design another system for the venue’s bar zone, which will be used for background music, and we’ve also used Yamaha Installation Series loudspeakers in other very different locations – from space at the Venice Biennale to a ”wellness” centre in southern Italy.”
Yamaha Digital Mix engines help Milan venue optimise open plan design
There are many nightclubs which are limited in terms of available space, and so zoning audio can be a problem in terms of where a club owner might want to have different areas and the lack of physical barriers between them.
One such venue is Globe, located on the top floor of a Milan department store. Despite the fact that the site is effectively a single, open-plan space, the use of a Yamaha DME24N digital mix engine at the heart of a sophisticated audio distribution system to divide Globe venue into no fewer than eight zones, has meant that the open plan doesn’t restrict the club’s functionality at all.
Globe is open from 10am until 2am and offers everything from corporate conference facilities to restaurant catering and private parties. “There’s always been a demand for this kind of multifunctionality,” says installer Stefano Papetti of Audioprogetti.
“But it’s only now that the technical solution has become affordable to the majority of end customers.”
The creation of outdoor balcony areas - an increasingly popular choice among venue owners in countries which have banned indoor smoking in enclosed public places - has given more options to operator and installer alike but, even so, Globe’s versatility would not be possible without the Yamaha DME.
